It was a cold and stormy Sunday night and we were craving for a warm rice meal for dinner. And it was that I remembered there was this new fast food area in Las PiƱas City near the University of Perpetual Help Rizal that offers hot rice bowl. It is the Mongolian Rice Bowl. The last time I had tried to dine at Mongolian Rice Bowl was 16 years ago. So why not try it again and see what they offer now.
Mongolian Rice Bowl is known to offer self-serve rice bowl where you get to make your own bowl of mixed rice, meat, and veggies. And it was 16 years ago that I first tried it. It was their branch at University Mall along Taft Avenue beside De La Salle University where you got to have the skill of stuffing up all the ingredients and stacking them up to a small bowl and ensuring that they don't fall off when you hand them over to the cook. And that was over a decade ago.
So when I went to one of their new branch at Las Pinas City, it is a different thing. They have improved immensely on the ambiance and now, they have this unlimited buffet for rice bowls and desserts. There is no more need for the skill of stuffing them all up as you can come back as often as you want with bottomless iced tea too! And this is all possible for P380 on weekends and P280 for weekday lunch.

And because you are tasked to make your own rice bowl you have a wide variety of choices to place in your bowl which includes rice, vermicelli (sotanghon), beef, chicken, fish, squid, mongo sprouts, radish, carrots, chili peppers, brown sugar, onions, chopped garlic and ginger, and sauce such as teriyaki, Mongolian, Sweet Chili Sauce. Once you are done, hand it over to their cook and they will do the rest for you.

In 3-5 minutes, your delicious rice bowl is ready. |
I had until 2 rice bowls before I started attacking the dessert. Just like the Mongolian rice bowl, you can get as many times as you want for the dessert which includes cakes, pastries, and fresh fruits.
The dessert-ender is the all-famous, Halo-Halo - a famous Filipino dessert made of taro, beans, pearls, jelly, mixed with milk, sugar and shaved ice. And you get to prepare this yourself too.
The Mongolian Rice Bowl is located at South Park Highs Commercial Complex at Barangay Talon Uno, Las Pinas City across Alabang-Zapote Road from McDonald's - University of Perpetual Help.
