Million People March

August 26, 2013

It was Monday, right in time for the National Heroes' Day in the Philippines; where the Filipino has stood up, without an organizer nor a leader, but walked out of their comfort zones with a single battle-cry... "Scrap the Pork Barrel and place culprits of corruption to justice". It was the third peaceful and massive united rally in the Philippines coming from EDSA 1 of 1986 and EDSA 2 of 2002. But this time, it was without a leader, fueled by social media; they went out to be heard and left the park clean... as if hundred thousands of people were not there that morning.

Chased by a Lightning - Conquering Mount Marami

August 17-18, 2013

Mount Marami is located at Maragondon, Cavite to which the jump-off starts at Magallanes, a neighboring town of the same province. Marami is actually a cliff-area of Mount Mataas na Gulod to which its elevation is 510 633 MASL as compared to its real summit at around 622 642 MASL. The feature of the hike would be crossing 2 major rivers and mountains before you can reach the summit. This is an account of Schadow1's solo attempt of scaling Marami and its mapping expedition as typhoon Maring (intl. Trami) looms.

How the Philippines as an Archipelago Emerged

Philippine Crust Movement Diagram - Schadow1 Expeditions

According to Philippine folklore, the country came out to be made of 7,641 islands (in low tide) due to a conjugal fight between two giants from Ilocos, named Angalo and Angarab. Legends are part of our culture, however, it is best to have our next generation know the scientific reason behind it so they will be more intellectually involved in how our islands came about. One would be surprised that a nearby island may be a distant neighbor millions of years ago.

Windows Photo Viewer Icon and the Philippines

Are you using Windows Vista or Windows 7 operating system on your computers? More likely you have used the default photo viewer of these operating systems, which is the Microsoft Photo Viewer. I was working on an 8-year-old DVD archive of my photo shoots last night and my DVD-ROM could hardly read the DVD and so the images' thumbnails were not yet loaded as I look at them at the windows file explorer. And so the default Photo Viewer icon is shown.  The program's icon kept me thinking. I think I saw this before. Have you?

Southwest IPTS Terminal (Cavite-Batangas Bus Terminal) Opens

The Southwest Integrated Provincial Transport System Terminal (Cavite and Batangas Bus Terminal) opens at August 6, 2013 and will the first of three bus terminals in Metro Manila that will centralize the drop-off point of provincial buses hoping to alleviate the traffic congestion in the Philippines' capital. The SW IPTS will hopefully alleviate traffic by forbidding entry of almost 1000 buses that ply from Cavite and Batangas to Metro Manila. With its state-of-the-art queuing system, it is planned to organize a harmonious dispatch of provincial buses and also only allowing bus companies with proper franchise and authorized drivers without records of crime and grave accidents to enter the facility and serve the commuting populace.
