Laguindingan Airport, the new Cagayan De Oro Airport

Starting June 15, 2013, Cagayan De Oro Airport which was previously located at Lumbia has now been transferred to Laguindingan Airport (coordinates 8.606439,124.458611). Still part of the Misamis Oriental however it is already bordering Lanao Del Norte. It is about 56.6 kilometers east of Iligan City of Lanao Del Norte and about 32.7 kilometers west of Cagayan De Oro City proper.




The main means of transport to and from Laguindingan airport is the LAX or Laguindingan Airport Express vans. Initially it costs at Php 199 one-way to and from Cagayan De Oro - Laguindingan. Regular price is Php 249/pax.

Pick-up or drop-off point of LAX is at Corrales Avenue near Ayala Centrio Mall

Conventional commute route is via the Iligan-Cagayan De Oro National Highway. From Cagayan De Oro to Laguindingan, you may ride a Bus to Iligan City at Bulua Bus Terminal (West bound terminal) at coordinates 8.511559,124.623562. And drop-off at the main highway corner Laguindingan airport road (coor 8.573945,124.438571) where you can ride a PUV for Php 20 to the airport.

Other conventional commute points to and from Laguindingan Airport has been posted by Tutubi of Backpacking Philippines which includes vans that can pick you up at SM City Cagayan De Oro  and Divisoria. Taxi is also available however they charge by contract of Php 1,500 instead of turning their meters on.

The change of CGY airport to Laguindingan Airport will change your itinerary to Cagayan De Oro and nearby provinces including your travel to Camiguin via fast craft at Cagayan De Oro or roro boats at Balingoan Port.
